Dining Services Waste Reduction

As the dining services provider on TCNJ’s campus, Sodexo makes an effort to reduce the amount of waste its operations and its customers produce. You can find more information about their efforts here. Here are some examples of their sustainability efforts:

  • Reusable Mug Discount: Help the Earth and your wallet by using our reusable mug on campus! All students on a Carte Blanche meal plan receive a mug as one of the benefits to their meal plans. We also have them for sale at select locations for faculty, staff and students not on a meal plan. Use your mug at any retail location, and you’ll receive a discount on your beverage!
  • Sustainable Seafood Commitment: A quick and informative YouTube video about sustainable seafood and what our commitment means for you.
  • LeanPath: Helps Sodexo employees reduce the amount of waste produced in food preparation and production.

In addition, Bonner Scholars are conducting a food waste audit during the 2014-2015 academic year to determine the amount of food waste produced by students each day. This information will be used to develop a plan for how to keep food waste out of the landfill.
